Project Overview

The Riverside development will transform nearly 13 acres of MBTA parking lot and adjacent space into a vibrant mixed-use and transit-oriented development that offers numerous benefits to the city of Newton. Designed by Elkus Manfredi Architects, with landscape design by Halvorsen, the revised project proposal was formally approved in fall 2021 and includes:

  • 550 units of new housing

  • 2 commercial buildings (life sciences/office space)

  • 22,000 square feet of retail space

  • 2 acres of open space

Construction Updates

Construction of parcel A3 at the North West part of the development is scheduled to begin in the fall of 2022.
Minor work on Grove Street at the South East corner (closest to the MBTA station) is scheduled to begin in the fall or winter of 2022.
